In 1997 the concept of condominium hotels was just being introduced in the U.S.
Hotelier Hugh A. Andrews, as the then President of Williams Hospitality, had been
quietly operating Las Casitas Village for two years. Just one year later, what is widely
recognized as Puerto Rico’s most successful condominium hotel development to
date, took the prestigious AAA Five Diamond Award.
His influence on the island’s hotel industry has earned Andrews numerous personal and
professional awards. He is the recognized master in the re-positioning and renovation of
hotels in Puerto Rico and holds the longest record of consistently successful hotel operations.
In 1976, he brought the concept of the business hotel to the Caribbean at the Condado
Plaza Hotel followed with a one-two punch, reopening of the El San Juan Hotel
and El Conquistador Resort to international acclaim.
As Founder and CEO of International Hospitality Enterprises, his current portfolio of hotels
includes El Convento, the Best Western Pierre and the Courtyard by Marriott in Isla Verde,
